Why Buy Kanye’s Coffee Table Book? Buy These Instead
According to Miss Info, Kanye West will be releasing a coffee table book later this year. So says NY Mag:
“Kanye West: Glow in the Dark will chronicle Kanye’s journeys around the world as he tours and hits up fashion parties. Photographer Nabil Elderkin also captured him shopping in Asian malls. The book will come with a USB drive of previously unreleased music and will cost $50. A steal, really. The release party might coincide with Paris Fashion Week.”
At first I thought “Wow – there’s Christmas all wrapped up”. But then I thought about some other coffee table books on offer than may be alternatives to spruce up the living room in your pad before going out an copping Yeezy’s new slab of inspiration. Here’s some YFWB suggestions for coffee table books that are probably better than Kanye’s.
PostSecret Coffee Table Book

Unlike Kanye West, most people don’t tell the world every excruciating detail about their lives. This coffee table book is a fun-filled collection of other people’s problems and secrets from the extremely popular PostSecret website.
For those that are uninitiated to the concept, people mail in postcards anonymously to the website owner that tells of a deep secret that they haven’t told anyone – everything from closet cases to people who like to pee in public pools. All secrets have a home here.
Why have your guest focus on your shortcomings and life disasters when they can get a window into the lives of other anonymous people?
If you need something to gossip about, look no further. You can entertain and sadden your guests with this lovely and colorful collection of secrets from around the world.
Although, I’m sure Kanye’s coffee table will make you equally sad.
Kramer’s Coffee Table Book About Coffee Tables
Cosmo was always a never-ending source of good ideas. In one of my favorite episodes, Kramer comes up with another million dollar concept that is sure to be a tremendous success.
Of course, a coffee table about coffee tables is not unlike a book by Kanye West about Kanye West. In fact, in many aspects I’m sure the coffee tables would be somewhat more interesting. Not that I wouldn’t want to learn more about his trip to a mall in Asia or his experiences with the fashion community. I mean, what’s more appealing to a hip-hop head than that?
Madonna’s “Sex” Book

Remember when Madonna was super hot and damn sexy? Neither do I. But apparently that time did exist and it was documented in a coffee table book that is a must for every household.
What’s not to like? It has pictures of Madge in various states of undress and it has snaps of her with desirable celebrities such as Dennis Rodman and Vanilla Ice. This thing just sells itself!
Now, Kanye had mused about a career in porn, or at least posing naked. So, while I clown on dude for making a coffee table book, at least its about fashion.
Here’s hoping Kanye doesn’t try and take a page out of Madonna’s style book and start dressing up in bondage gear and taking black and white stills with weird dudes.
Well, he has that down, but at least their all clothed. I guess we can be thankful for that. I never, ever, ever want to find out if Kanye let ALL his hair grow out. That’s just not cool.
No doubt, Kanye’s upcoming tomb will be a page-turner. The ability to thumb through pages and pages of avant garde artwork is like a dream come true – at least for me. But for those of you who have more mainstream – but equally interesting – tastes, I hope these suggestions are of help to you.
