CLICK ON IT: Fab 5 Freddy Vs MC Serch

CLICK ON IT
In the latest issue of XXL Magazine, they do an ill feature on the making of Illmatic on the 15th anniversary of its release. One particular portion of the piece has former 3rd Bass frontman MC Serch talking about how the legendary Wild Style intro almost didn’t make it onto the album. The way Serch tells it, legend Fab 5 Freddy was throwing wrenches into the system by telling the director of the film he didn’t get enough money.
On the exclusive tip, blogger/writer Combat Jack has the official response from Freddy himself. Not familiar with Combat Jack? You’re missing out. I got put on to him from mentions on Dallas Penn and I have been hooked on his blog ever since. He is an attorney who’s represented such luminaries as Jay-Z and has worked in the music industry for a while now. CJ drops some great behind-the-scene stories on the biz in addition to being generally on-point.
And I should point out that Jack’s a real dude as well. When I sent him the link to my comments on his discussion with Penn about the greatest P.E. album (as I do when I mention someone), he was cool enough to write me back and comment on these pages as well. I respect that fully.
Either way, this post is a great addendum to the Illmatic story. Blogging at its most powerful.

Humbly, thnx for the coverage!
See, flattery will get you commentary. Nah, I’m playin. All true.
The master stroke was shaving the 3rd Bass logo into the back of his head.
What did that stupid ass glue to his head? A big Brillo pad?
