The Streets Say: 3.5 out of 5

Daily Mathematics (9.2 out of 10)

Summary: I feel like I was high for most of this album. And like they claimed, the third time’s the charm. Clipse dropped a certified third classic piece with this one. There’s no question that rap fiends everywhere will find a way, through copping, beg, borrow or stealing to catch a dose of this drug. Trust.”

Hip Hop Is Read (3 out of 5)

Summary: “I can’t say that I dislike TTCD, but I had higher expectations based on the plethora of the duo’s gritty mixtape material and proven track record. While producing individual songs worthy of multiple spins, a full listen is tarnished by flailing singles and conceptual redundancies. I’d much rather hear Clipse rap about selling white, because they took an artistic approach to facing their demons – it’s less inspiring now that they seem to have conquered them all.”

The Koalition (4 out of 5)

Summary: “It is damn near second nature for The Clipse’s major label releases to be consistently tormented by delays, but Til The Casket Drops ultimately delivers a full course meal and is well worth the wait. In essence, Til The Casket Drops sees the lyrically formidable pair stray away from the darkness, foreseeing prosperous days ahead yet maintaining lessons learned, hints of pyrex still enveloping their hands.”

Snob’s Music (7 out of 10)

Summary: “Til the Casket Drops is a little less in-your-face than the group’s previous efforts. Yes, the themes of street life are still prominent, however, with a few notable exceptions like “Door Man”, the raps are delivered with slightly less aggression than we’ve heard in the past. We are even treated to a fun-filled Sex Rehab-worthy track in “Counseling”. The songs are actually best when Clipse are left to do it on their own. Til the Casket Drops may not be the best work we’ve heard from Clipse, their worst is better than 98% of the hip hop you’ll hear on the airwaves.”

Nappy Afro (3.5 out of 5)

Summary: “[T]his album is a good example of the fact that a good beat can only help you go so far. On some of these songs, Clipse sounds asleep or even bored with their own lyrics. This definitely is a step down from Hell Hath No Fury, but it’s still a pretty good album that wouldn’t disappoint if you picked it up in stores. Clipse did a good job here and hopefully new music from them will come sooner than later with the quality stays at this level.”
